Breaking in your new orthotics

Your custom designed Foot Orthotics will help correct and maintain the proper alignment and position of you ankle and foot.
Ankle and foot alignment is vital for valancing and distributing your body weight. Your Foot Orthotics will help correct mild to moderate foot pronlems and reduce associated pain.
You may experience slight discomfort as you adjust to the new orthotics and proper alignment position.

It may take a couple weeks for you to feel fully comfortable wearing orthotics. Some people-are immediately comfortable wearing them, while others need more time to adjust. Generally, the body does not adapt the change rapidaly, and you may experience mild aches or gatigue when you first begin to wear orthatics.

Please read there instructions carefully so that you will have a safe and comfortable adjustment into your new orthotics*.

  • Day 1                    15 min - 1 hour                  or until sore anywhere
  • Day 2                    15 min - 2 hours                or until sore anywhere
  • Day 3                    2 hours - 4 hours              or until sore anywhere
  • Day 4                    2 hours - 4 hours              or until sore anywhere
  • Day 5                    2 hours - 4 hours              or until sore anywhere
  • Day 6                    2 hours - 4 hours              or until sore anywhere
  • Day 7                    2 hours - 4 hours              or until sore anywhere
  • Week 2                 4 hours - 6 hours             or until sore anywhere
  • Week 3                 6 hours - 8 hours             or until sore anywhere
  • Week 4                 Gradually increase the time until all day

* Orthotics may be worn several times a day, but only after long periods of rest and not more than the recommended hours each interval each day.

 Wearing Instructions:

  1. Orthotics are NOT ordinary shoes. Instead, they are more like putting braces on your teeth!
    In this, you will feel soreness/pain during the initial break-in period. this is NORMAL. In fact, if there is no soreness or pain after the first week, the orthotics are not having to do much work and your feet are in fairly good shape already! Follow the wearing plan regardless.
  2. During the first week, do not wear your orthotics while playing sports, during workouts or other strenuous physical activity. After two weeks, you should be completely comfortable wearing orthotics for all activities. If you are not comfortable, you can have your orthotics adjusted. Adjustments to new orthotics are no charge for the first six months. Normal! wear and tear is the responsibilty of the owner. The life expectancy of foot orthotics 2-5 years depending on type of orthotic, maintenance, body weight and activity level.
  3. your new orthotics is made from state-of-the-art materials. With typical moderate use and proper care, your new Foot Orthotics should last more than one year. Clean your Orthotics whenever it becomes dirty, or has an upleasant odor. Wipe with a damp clorth. If odor persists, you can use water and mild soap. Do not soak it in water. Be sure to rinse well to eliminate unwanted soap residue. Allow the orthotics to dry at room remperature. Direct heat can damage your Orthotics. Do not use a hair dryer, or place it near a heater.
  4. Never attempt to repair, or adjust your Orthotics yourself. Your practitioner will schedule periodic visits to make sure your Orthotics are working properly.
